Our Services
The Substance Abuse Program at NorthStar is a result-focused treatment program designed to provide individuals with the tools they need to successfully achieve recovery and lasting sobriety.
We offer a range of treatment services: individual and group therapy, medication monitoring, and ongoing family involvement. Other treatment options include family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, wellness/mindfulness, and psychiatric treatment for those experiencing co-occurring symptoms.

We utilize several well-established models of treatment including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Matrix model of treatment, Life Coaching and Education. Such combination has proven to be most effective in treating the cycle of addiction.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT):
DBT is used in a variety of psychological treatments and research proves it to be very effective. DBT stems from all elements of Cognitive Therapy coupled with five modes in which the therapy must:
a) enhance and maintain the client’s motivation to change;
b) enhance the client’s capabilities;
c) ensure that the client’s new capabilities are generalized to all relevant environments;
d) enhance the therapist’s motivation to treat clients while also enhancing the therapist’s capabilities; and,
e) structure the environment so that treatment can take place.

CBT addresses the crisis of the moment and behaviors in order of importance: behaviors that could lead to self-injury, then behaviors that could lead to premature termination of treatment, behaviors that destroy the quality of life, and then address the need for alternative skills.

Matrix Model for Outpatient Addiction Treatment:
The Matrix Model is an Evidence-Based Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program for Alcohol and Drugs, proven effective in the treatment of Addiction. It consists of education groups, relapse prevention groups, individual counseling, social support groups, and urine testing to monitor drug use and take the issue of use "off the table".

The Matrix Model sets forth a non-judgmental attitude based on client-therapist bond. It is a less confrontational approach where "Core issues" are not immediately addressed and where the focus is on the present and changes are incorporated immediately into lifestyle.

Life Coaching:
A collaborative relationship with a coach who will help create an exciting future for oneself. Coaches help identify goals and direction in life, and guide people into making a life they love. Coaching can help:
-
Put balance and fun back into your life.
-

-
